Diary of a Dance Audition Info

Diary of a Dance Audition You know what the worst part of the audition is? Waiting for the results! Aargh! Sometimes, when you’re waiting you get to go out in the crowd and visit with your peeps which is cool because it makes the wait a little easier. Then it comes, the score tally. For this audition, it was a dance team. I could barely breathe. Names were being called, hard to focus....

When I first got the call that they were auditioning for new dance team I couldn’t believe it. I mean had all that hard work really paid off? Really? No matter. I was so excited. I mean I practiced so hard to get the audition and now that the day was finally here, it was like my brain matter evaporated and I forgot everything I knew. I hate when that happens. But I had to pull it together. Go time.

Running around I grabbed my gear, my mom, call my partner (to make sure she gets there on time) and we raced off to the auditorium. Sitting in the car I prayed that nothing would happen. No accidents, no speeding, just a basic simple drive. Then it happened – construction. Why today? No flippin idea. But there it was. I’m looking at my watch, screaming inside my head and inside my car. Lucky for me, my mom knows her way around delays. Way to go mom.

So we get there I take a few deep breaths, had a little bit of time to stretch. I get there and there’s the other dancers – looking awesome. Only a couple a minutes late. No big. Weird thing is everyone seemed nervous I mean not everyone shouldn’t be it was just cool to know that everyone kinda felt the way I did. Although I doubt the 8 million butterflies in the pit of my stomach was something EVERYONE was feeling.

So they break us up into 2 groups and my partner and I go on to the stage ready to rock it. Cool thing was I texted some on my friends after I got the call so I had a teeny cheering section. That’s always nice because let me tell you, it’s way harder to go into this thing alone. So my partner and I get to the stage the music starts – and we kill it. Everything felt smooth, simple. All that evaporated brain matter finally clicked. Unbelievable. There was a slight flutter near the finish and it plagued me right up the final call...

Somewhere around 8 or 9 names I heard it! I heard my number! And my partner made it too. Absolutely, astounding. This was so cool. So many tryouts, so many auditions and this one, the one I felt least prepared for -- It’s the one I made. Now the fun really begins....
